June 7 - 13 : Colors & Counting

Practical Life Lessons

Materials used:
Colored pencils
Rubber bands
Songs & videos

My eldest collected lots of colored pencils and I decided to use them for our counting exercise. First, I guided Raeka to sort the pencils according to their color. Next, we counted how many pencils are there for each color.

We did the same exercise using the hair rubber bands. She got bored and tired after a few minutes so I showed her the proper way of keeping the materials when she is done.

On days that she does not want to physically count items or point out the color of each item, I encourage her to sing about colors & counting instead. Here are some of the songs that we enjoy,

 - One Two, I love you (video)
 - Ten scary steps (video)
 - Rainbow, rainbow (video)

Some of our lessons are repetitive because she still needs to master them before we move to other topics.

Do you have any home schooling tips you want to share?

Please feel free to leave a comment below.

Blessed be.
