review: Hotel Veniz Baguio

0

We stayed for 4 days and 3 nights at this hotel from Dec. 31, 2014 to Jan 3, 2015.

Booking - I booked through Agoda. I actually made 3 separate bookings. 2 nights for the Superior Room and 1 night for the Premier Suite. No need to fill-out information forms when you book through Agoda, faster and more convenient. There is a refundable security deposit of 500 pesos in Cash.

Buffet breakfast - The coupon said breakfast is available from 6:30 - 10:00am. We liked the selection but international guests might get disappointed with the available food. Our favorites are the French Toast, Strawberry Jelly, Raisin bread, Fried rice and of course the egg station where you can tell them how you want your eggs.
  • 1st day, staff at the egg station forgot my son's order even though he was given a number to claim the omelette.
  • 2nd day, the coffee was a bit bland and tasteless but we ate about a plateful of their French Toast.
  • 3rd day, we decided to eat around 7:00am and waited for 30 minutes before the egg station opened.
Rooms - Suite rooms comes with a balcony. Superior rooms are inner rooms and does not have elevator access. (pictures are at the bottom of this post)
  • Superior Trio room 411 - Comfortable for 2 adults, 1 child and 1 toddler. No window. No view. No access to elevator. Free coffee & cookies. Basic toiletries are provided. It also has a Coffee & Tea making facility.
  • Premier Suite 504 - The room has a balcony so we had a perfect view of Burnham Park and the City Proper. A bit noisy though if you are not used to the city sounds. The bathroom comes with a bath tub, although we did not try it because the tub plug / water stopper looks dirty. Water heater in this room is better than in the superior rooms. I'm not sure if it was my imagination but the towels and blankets smells fresher, as if a floral scented perfume was sprayed before we arrived. Carpet is dirty, my daughter's feet turned grayish black because of the carpet.

Staff - Very courteous and attentive to our needs and requests. They let us stay in the Superior room even after check-out time until our next room becomes available, which is the Premier Suite is ready.

Location - In the middle of the city. You can hail a cab or take jeep around the corner. There is a supermarket below and a McDonald's. The famous Burnham Park and City Market is just around the corner.

Parking - Very limited basement parking.
