Russell's Taking Notes

Russell requested for this book as he wants a book with lots of information. My 5-year-old son loves story books since he was a toddler. Now his preference changed to books like the picture above. My husband and I did not think twice about buying the book as we really encourage our son to read more.

Every student knows the importance of taking down notes. Russell jots the sentences that he likes on a small paper. When I came home, he showed his notes to me.

The words he copied on these papers are his wishlist. He asked me to buy everything he wrote. All the things on the six pieces of paper. I kind of want to smack myself on the head because it is sort of my fault how Russell got the idea on what to put on his wishlist.

Then Russell said, "Mommy it's okay if you cannot buy everything. You buy the most important one when we have money, then I'll check the word on the paper. Then we'll save again to buy the next one. I'll wait when he have the money to buy all. "

I almost cried when I realized that I underestimated my son's ability to understand the value of money. He wishes a lot of things but since he knows that we have priorities, he's willing to wait until we have the extra money to spend.

Oh I'm so lucky to be his mom!

Please share something awesome about your child by posting a comment. I can't wait to hear from you.

Blessed Be.
