The power to choose

2

"There are moments in our lives when we find ourselves at a crossroads. The choices we make in those moments can define the rest of our days."
Lucas Scott - One Tree Hill

We all have the power to think, to decipher and to choose. The words YES and NO are omnipresent in our lives, waiting unrelentingly for us to reach out and pick one. Though there are times that the choices presented to us does not seem fair and we might feel that we'll lose either way. During these times, our morals and beliefs are tested.

Are we going to choose the easier path and ignore the fact that we might hurt another human being?
or
Are we going to pick the harder path only to avoid hurting others?

I chose to live by my own beliefs, not by the beliefs spoon-fed to me by those who nurtured me.

Does this make me ungrateful?

Some may say Yes, while others may say No.

I cannot and will not deny that I grew up because of the endless time they spent working to provide me the basic needs.

I cannot and will not deny that I long for the people who nurtured me.

I cannot and will not deny that everyday I desire for everything to be ok.

but

I also cannot and will not deny that they choose to break my trust only to prove their power over us and to feed their power-hungry ego.

I chose to side with the truth. I was persecuted and is still being persecuted for the choice I made. Now my day starts and ends with the desire to seek always for the truth.

I have the power to think, to decipher and to choose.

And I exercised that power.

Did you?

Blessed be.
