Twice in a blue moon

According to Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), we will again see the blue moon on Tuesday (March 30th) plus Venus, Neptune and Uranus will appear as well.

The moon will appear blue due to the dust particles in the atmosphere that scatter light. The effects the light coming from the moon can cause it to appear bluish in color. It seemed that the eruption of Krakatoa Volcano in is the reason of this blue moon phenomenon.

It is noted that on the month of March the moon was full on the 1st day and it will be full again on the 30th.

“The next blue moon will be on August 2 and 31, 2012," Nilo said in PAGASA’s astronomical diary for March. On the average, a blue moon takes place once every two and a half years.

Blessed be.
