One Million Trees and beyond

De La Salle - College of Saint Benilde students constantly lives up to the Benildean core values to prove that we are indeed Socially Responsible.

November 2009. We participated in the tree planting activity in Botolan, Zambales. The 1-hour climb became easy as we are in the company of friends and the mere thought of helping the environment is the best motivation for us.

March 2010. Again, we went outside of our daily routines and went to Orion, Bataan to help save the thinning mangrove.

Much to our dismay, the mangrove was full of garbage brought by the sea from Manila Bay. It seemed that residents of Manila, especially those who frequent Roxas Boulevard are extremely oblivious to the detrimental damage they inflict on the mangrove forests of Bataan.

As the Lasallian community takes steps to save the environment by planting more trees, I wish that everyone will participate by placing plants in their homes and properly disposing their garbage. Together, we can alleviate the ailing planet and ensure that our children’s children will know what a tree looks like.

Blessed be!
