Make your own Coffee Scrub

0

Every girl needs to pamper herself every once in a while, but when our budget won't allow us to visit a day spa it doesn't mean we'll just neglect ourselves. Exfoliation not only gets rid of the dirt and dead skin, it also gives you a younger and fresh look. It also helps in better absorption of moisture which is why you need to follow up with a moisturizer after the scrub and bath. It is also advised to start massaging the body scrub from your feet and move up towards your legs and your torso and arms.

I create my own body scrubs at home, and I saw another use of coffee other than waking me up, a good homemade Coffee Scrub.

Coffee Scrub is known to increase blood flow and for its cellulite reducing properties. It is also a good treatment for varicose veins. You can get coffee grounds from starbucks for free if you do not brew your own coffee at home. You may use the scrub on your face but be
gentle for the facial skin is much more sensitive than the skin on our body.

I have two recipes available, I used oil in #1 and shower gel in #2.

Moisturizing Coffee Scrub
1/8 cup white or brown sugar
1/8 cup fresh coffee grounds
1/16 cup virgin olive or coconut oil
1 tsp. pure vanilla extract (for add'l scent)
Oil of 2 vitamin E capsules
  1. Place the sugar and coffee grounds in a large mixing bowl and stir until the ingredients are well blended.
  2. Mix in the extra virgin olive or coconut oil and blend.
  3. Add pure vanilla extract, vitamin E oil and mix until the oils are completely incorporated with the other ingredients.
  4. Take a warm shower and massage the coffee and sugar body scrub in circular motions over your body. Rinse the body scrub thoroughly from your body.
  5. Dry off and moisturize.
Pros: The olive or coconut oil moisturizes your skin while you exfoliate.
Cons: You will really need warm water to rinse off the oil.

Quick Coffee Scrub
1/4 cup of finely ground coffee
1 cup of plain yogurt (optional)
1/16 cup of shower gel
  1. Place coffee grounds and yoghurt in a large mixing bowl and stir until the ingredients are well blended.
  2. Mix in the shower gel and blend.
  3. Massage the coffee scrub in circular motions over your body. Rinse the body scrub thoroughly from your body.
  4. Dry off and moisturize.
Pros: Shower gel doesn't moisturize well like olive or coconut oil.
Cons: Easier to use and rinse off. An invigorating coffee scrub in the shower can really be a great way to wake up in the morning!

Do this 2 - 3 times a week and you'll feel your skin is softer and tighter. You may double the ingredients if you're having a girl bonding time with your bff, and you may also lessen the ingredients if you also wish to scrub you knees and elbows. Please remember to scrub gently to avoid skin abrasions (ouch!). Enjoy!

Blessed be!
